With a background career
in Advertising, Wayne Bender turned his focus to full-time watercolor painting. Many of his subjects are the result
of his travels while serving in the U.S. Navy where he visited such exotic ports as; England, Scotland, Russia, Panama, Australia,
Persia (now Iran), Japan and Hawaii. His formal training was received at the Academy of Arts of New Jersey, Art
Center College of Design, workshops with Rex Brandt, Zoltan Szabo, Robert E. Wood and Tom Lynch. With a major
in Business Administration from Arizona State and U.S.C., he joined the faculty of Woodbury University where he taught Advertising
Art. Memberships include the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, Huntington Beach Art League,
Niguel Art Association and Orange County Fine Arts. His "Amish Series" depicting lifestyles of the "Plain
People" from his Ohio background are sold throughout the country. Wayne's philosophy is to capture the "essence"
of a scene. He continues to study and constantly strives to achieve this spontaneous effect.
